ACM Comm 2016 11 Sex as an Algorithm (Notes) (Charles Babbage on Evolution)

In The Ninth Bridgewater Treatise[1][2] Babbage uses his Difference Engine[3] as an example about how a benevolent creator can design not necessarily species, but an algorithm (he did not use the word) for creating species.

(God can create systems that in turn create objects on God's behalf. But God always knows what is created. Ed.)
